Shapiro, 38, the founder of The Daily Wire and a popular political pundit, became the target of hateful and derogatory attacks by his critics after two screenshots of the fake tweets went viral on social media. Two fake tweets made the rounds on social media, appearing to suggest that Shapiro had a thing for his sister. "The thing with hom*osexuality and transgenderism is that it simply boils down to exerting control over your impulses. Like, say you have a hot sister. You fantasize about it, maybe you steal her underwear a couple of times, but it goes no further than that," one fake tweet read. Another fake tweet appeared to show Shapiro appreciating his sister's looks. "Look how beautiful my sister looks. Simply glowing. I've literally been staring at these photos for hours," it read.

Critics of Shapiro pounced on the opportunity to slam his conservative views and beliefs. "This now-deleted tweet of Ben Shapiro, who's probably talking about his younger sister Abby, makes me look at him with pity and disgust."Find someone who looks at you like Ben Shapiro looks at his sister," said another troll.

"Ben Shapiro, why would you want Twitter to know you have a thing for your sister? Is this the place where you, and Charlie Kirk go to work out your sexual frustrations?" said another troll. One said, "It's glorious when the weasels out themselves. @benshapiro is just sick. This is the result of sexual oppression and a serious inferiority complex.

However, it soon emerged that the tweets were fabricated and originated from a Reddit thread full of fake posts. This prompted many to rush to his defense amid the onslaught.

"The first post on Twitter @ Ben Shapiro mentioning 'sister' wasn't posted until after the Reddit post, over a day after the date on the faked screenshot. The idea that Twitter completely ignored it for a day simply isn't believable," one tweeted.

"...It is from a Reddit thread where people were making up fake Shapiro tweets. You could google it and see that there is no corroborating evidence from any mainstream news site. If you think that CNN or MSNBC would have ignored that you are mistaken," another wrote.

"I mean I also like memeing on Ben Shapiro as much as the next guy but at least do it with things that are true," someone else added.
